POLECAT CREEK, NEAR KIEFER

8x10
oil/canvas
SOLD

Polecat Creek wanders around this area, crosses a road here and there and, I suppose, ends up in the Arkansas River. I took artistic liberty and moved the creek a bit because I wanted it to be in this meadow backed by trees with brown leaves. We have trees, I think some may be oak, that do not lose their leaves suddenly but slowly over the winter and perhaps not entirely until new growth in the spring pushes them away.

It was a lovely day. The temperature was in the 60's but the sun made it seem warmer.

  1. Betty;
    I've looked at your paintings several times since joining your blog, and your work is really nice; it possesses such an earthy, genuine quality. I draw solely, but recently have started trying to learn to oil paint -- something very daunting for me! Work like yours helps inspire me to keep trying.

  2. Thank you, Lynda, for writing. I know you will be a wonderful painter. If you decide to take classes, look for someone who paints the way you would like to paint and study with that teacher. You will develop your own style.
    And....thank you for liking my work.
    Best wishes.

  3. One thing I have noticed since following you, is that apart of your joy what you are doing, the added benefit is being outdoors in the fresh air.

    Enjoy your Sunday,
    Egmont

  5. I became lost on your site the other day and found myself wanting to comment on several of your paintings... something pulled me away from the computer before I had the chance! Just wanted you to know that I'm now following your blog (thanks for following mine!) and will be dropping by from time to time. I not only enjoy your paintings but also enjoy your commentary!
