My cone flowers did not bloom last summer.
This year they did and, in celebration, we painted them in class last week.

CARPINTERIA BEACH

11X14
OIL/CANVAS PANEL

I didn't get to California this January so painted this scene from memory and a photo taken last year. There were a couple of guys fishing down the way, I think they said for sea bass.   It was a beautiful day and in the evening I sat on a sand bank and enjoyed the sunset, sipping a glass of wine.

EGGPLANT WITH JOE'S BOWL

The colander in this painting was made by a potter friend of mine and is almost too pretty to use.
It serves as a colorful contrast to eggplant.

COLORS OF WINTER II

11X14
OIL/CANVAS BOARD

I have not been looking forward to winter this year but, thus far, the weather has been tolerable. This human likes sun in the winter and shade in the summer.
This scene speaks to me of all the beautiful colors that winter sometimes brings.  The red reeds and golden grasses are a pleasing contrast to  green cedars and blue sky.
